Milton Visits North Shore Park with Destructive Results

Hurricane Milton visited North Shore Park on October 10, leaving a destructive calling card. The Category 3 Hurricane slammed into the ballpark's facilities; grandstands, fences, and storage facilities slung twisted metal around the property, felling trees that provided a park atmosphere, leaving the playing surface of the ball diamond looking as if all the city grounds crew needed to do was a little touch-up for the next game. Two weeks earlier, Hurricane Helene stormed into the home of the Kids and Kubs and Half Century Softball Club, managing to upset a strongly constructed scorers table and dump a lot of rain.

The Kids and Kubs and Half Century Softball Club planned to open their competitive seasons this month. Half Century on October 14, and the 75 and older Kids and Kubs are set to start on Tuesday, October 29.
The city has locked the field, giving notice that it is not sanctioned as an approved recreation area. Until authorized by the city of St Petersburg, the North Shore Softball diamond is a crime scene victim. Assaulted by two of Mother Nature's bad actors.
