Multiple Water Rescues In St. Pete Area Over Holiday Weekend: USCG

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Crews were kept busy Sunday with several Memorial Day weekend water rescues, U.S. Coast Guard Station St. Petersburg shared on its Facebook page.

Among the calls received over the long weekend, crews responded Sunday afternoon to a victim experiencing a heart attack about five miles off Johns's Pass, the agency wrote in a post. The victim was on a party boat, Florida Fisherman, which charters out of Hubbard’s Marina.

"Our crew was able to provide quick and efficient care while assisting the transfer to EMS." (Watch a video from their rescue below.)

Another Coast Guard crew responded to Apollo Beach after a boat crashed onto the rocks, the agency wrote in a post. There were no injuries.

Meanwhile, another crew from the station responded to reports of a person in the water off Howard Frankland Bridge, the Coast Guard wrote in another post. Crew members found a man stranded on a piling under the bridge and transferred him to EMS after rescuing him.

Then, Sunday night, Coast Guard crew members responded to a boat crash near Snell Isle, the agency wrote. Two people were pulled from the water and brought to the hospital by St. Pete Fire Rescue.
