New Pier Opening Announced By The City Of St. Pete

The city said it is planning a safe opening of the new St. Pete Pier, and will not allow mass gatherings at the opening.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The city of St. Pete has announced the official opening date of the new Pier District and St. Pete Pier.

“It’s been a long and winding road, but we’ve arrived at our destination: A dynamic, 26-acre waterfront playground that will serve residents and visitors for generations to come," said Mayor Rick Kriseman in a news release. "It’s time for everyone to experience all the Pier District and St. Pete Pier has to offer.”

The original Pier opening was scheduled for May 30, but will now open on Monday, July 6, at 5 p.m.

The new St. Pete Pier District will be the ultimate place to stroll, bike, dine, drink, shop, swim, take in a concert and more, the city said in a news release. Additional information related to the pier’s amenities can be found at www.StPetePier.org.

The city announced that due to the coronavirus, no organized mass gathering will coincide with the pier’s opening. To provide for the health and safety of the pier’s visitors, additional details related to a safe opening of the St. Pete Pier will be shared soon.
