New West St. Pete Aldi Grocery Store Sets Opening Date

The new Aldi grocery store near Tyrone Square Mall in west St. Petersburg will celebrate its grand opening on Feb. 1.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL β€” The new Aldi grocery storenear the Tyrone Square Mall has set its opening date.

The location at 6755 22nd Ave. in west St. Petersburg will celebrate its grand opening Feb. 1 with a Jan. 31 sneak peak of the new store offered to shoppers, according to the Aldi website.

β€œWe're stocking our shelves with aisle after aisle of products you'll love, and we can't wait to meet you,” the company said. β€œThe grand opening for our new grocery store in St. Petersburg is right around the corner, and so are your savings. We've got everything from fresh produce delivered daily to everyday essentials you can never have enough of.”

The 28,605-square-foot space was previously home to the Alachua County-based Hitchcock’s Green Market and, before that, Lucky’s Supermarket.

Hitchcock’s closed in the summer of 2022, while Lucky’s shut its doors in 2020, Patch previously reported.

Aldi’s Feb. 1 grand opening will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:30 a.m. with the store opening to shoppers after that.

The first 100 customers on Feb. 1 will receive a Golden Ticket that could be worth up to $100, the company said. An Aldi employee will hand out laminated numbered cards to those in line.

Free Aldi tote bags will also be handed out to shoppers on Feb. 1 while supplies last.

Shoppers can also look for signs inside the store from Feb. 1-4 and scan the codes on them for info about how to enter a chance to win a $500 Aldi gift card.
