One Of Country's Best Light Displays Now Open In St. Pete
The 41st annual Oakdale Christmas Light Display has opened at the Oakdale Christmas House.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- Prepare to be amazed by the holiday display that made both HGTV's and NBC's Today shows top three Christmas lights displays.
The 41st annual Oakdale Christmas Light Display opened Nov. 24 at the Oakdale Christmas House, 2719 Oakdale St. S., St. Petersburg, featuring more than 500,000 lights, a manger scene with 150 pieces visible from Bethel Avenue and a walking yard tour of the half-acre property that includes several waterfalls, fountains, an 18-train HO scale railroad and 16 carnival rides and animated figures.
The display is free and open nightly from 6 to 10 p.m. through Jan. 3 .

In addition to fiber optic displays, more than 700 animated characters, lights synchronized with computerized music and outdoor televised presentations, there will be items for children to engage with including inflatables and a bubble machine.

It takes a crew of eight to 15 people nearly three months to put the display together.
It takes 12 truck loads to bring all of the items in the display from storage to Oakdale Street.
The first display was in 1977.
The electric bill for the display is about $5,000.
