Pedestrian Accident Closes 34th Street South

The man struck in the Sunday afternoon crash suffered serious injuries.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The St. Petersburg Police Department is asking motorists to steer clear of a portion of 34th Street South following a Sunday afternoon crash involving a pedestrian.

According to the agency, the stretch between 12th Avenue South and 15th Avenue South is closed in both the north and southbound directions.

The accident happened around 3:53 p.m. in the 1400 block of 34th Street South. Police say a middle-aged man was crossing the street, from west to east outside of a crosswalk, when he was struck by a car.

The man suffered serious injuries and was taken to Bayfront Health, police say. The driver of the vehicle was not injured and has not yet been identified by authorities.
