Pedestrian Dies After Car Hits Him On Fourth Street North

St. Petersburg police had all lanes closed on 4th Street North for several hours as they investigated the fatality.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A pedestrian died after a car hit him on Fourth Street North in St. Petersburg around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday night, a police news release said.

A BMW headed south on Fourth Street North hit the man as he was crossing the street between Ninth Avenue North and 11th Avenue North, authorities said.

He died at the scene.

The driver did stop and talk to police during the investigation. Officials said the driver didn't show any signs of intoxication.

During the investigation, all lanes on Fourth Street North were closed.

St. Petersburg police are not releasing the victim's name until his family is contacted.
