Pinellas County Government Announces Christmas Closings

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — Pinellas County government offices will close beginning at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24 through Wednesday, Dec. 25, in observance of Christmas.

Building and Development Review Services, the offices and adoption center at Pinellas County Animal Services, Human Services and Veterans Services offices will observe those hours.

The Solid Waste Disposal Facility will be open Tuesday, Dec. 24, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The facility will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 25. The Solid Waste Administration Building and Household Electronics and Chemical Collection Center will be closed beginning at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24, through Wednesday, Dec. 25. All solid waste facilities will open during normal hours on Thursday, Dec. 26.

The Pinellas County Parks and Conservation Resources administration office, the administration office at Fort DeSoto Park and Heritage Village will close at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24 and remain closed on Christmas. County parks and preserves will only be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 25, except for Fort DeSoto Park, which will remain open throughout the holidays.

County boat ramps and beach access areas will be open, though annual beach and boat ramp parking permits will not be available for sale, as the administrative offices of Parks and Conservation Resources will be closed.

The Environmental Education Centers at Brooker Creek Preserve and Weedon Island Preserve will be open at their normal hours, Thursday through Sunday, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Heritage Village will be open Thursday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sunday, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

The Florida Botanical Gardens will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 25, but will open for the Holiday Lights in the Gardens that evening from 5:30 until 9:30 p.m. The gardens will resume normal hours and remain open all other days.

The courts of the Sixth Judicial Circuit (Pinellas and Pasco) will hold regular hours on Tuesday, Dec. 24, but will close on Wednesday, Dec. 25, except for first-appearance advisory hearings and emergency situations.

All Pinellas County facilities will resume normal hours of operation on Thursday, Dec. 26.

Per Gov. Ron DeSantis' announcement, the Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County and other state agencies will be closed on two additional days during the holiday season. They will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 24-25 and Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
