ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- A spate of homicides in two St. Petersburg neighborhoods is making residents nervous. To allay their fears, St. Pete Police Chief Anthony Holloway, City Councilwoman Gina Driscoll and a team of community service officers were out Wednesday night, walking the streets and talking with residents about their concerns.
The chief and councilwoman targeted the Campbell Park and 13th Street Heights neighborhoods where there have been four fatal shootings since Sept. 30.
Malik Oliver, 19, was shot in an alley at 920 13th Ave S. on Sept. 30. Rodney Bascom, 58, was found shot to death on the road at 920 11th Ave. S. on Oct. 18. And Kenneth Shook and Cheryl Casey were shot and killed near 1371 16th St. S. A man has been arrested in that shooting but the other two remain unsolved and investigators believe they are related.

βWe need to work together with the community to solve these cases and bring closure to their families,β said Holloway.
In addition to handing out door hangers with crime tips, Holloway, Driscoll and the service officers encouraged residents to send anonymous tips through TIP411 and provided the phone numbers of service officers assigned to the area in case they have any concerns.
