Police: Men Arrested After Fleeing Police Not Shooting Suspects

Police arrested two men after a high-speed chase in connection with an attempted armed Robbery. Police now say, however, that they are not the two suspects they were looking for.

Early Monday morning a 28-year-old man was shot twice during an attempted robbery at 1414 20th St. South.

After getting reports from witnesses, St. Petersburg Police pursued two men in a car in connection with the attempted robbery. The pursuit led to a high-speed chase and the arrests of Quinton Collier and Arsenio Brinson.

Today, however, police say the two men are not connected with the shooting and armed robbery and have been eliminated as possible suspects in the case.

The two individuals, Collier and Brinson will not be facing any additional charges beyond those related to the pursuit. Their reason for fleeing from officers, police said, appears to be solely related to the firearm and drugs found in their possession at the time they were apprehended.

Efforts to identify the actual suspect(s) are still ongoing, according to police.
