Popular St. Pete Brewery Expanding Into Downtown Tampa: Report

A staple in St. Petersburg's beer scene is opening a new tasting room in downtown Tampa, a report said.

TAMPA, FL — A staple in St. Petersburg’s beer scene is expanding across the bay with a new tasting room in downtown Tampa.

Green Bench Brewing, which first opened in 2013 in St. Petersburg’s Edge District, plans to open the tasting room in the former Pint and Brew space at 200. N. Tampa Street, the Tampa Bay Times said.

The tasting room is expected to open in early June, owner Khristopher Johnson told the Times.

“We’re excited about sharing some more of our brands with the Tampa market,” he said.

The news comes on the heels of bad news for other local breweries. Tampa Bay Brewing Company recently announced the closure of its Ybor City Taproom at the end of May, and, several weeks ago, Angry Chair Brewing was listed for sale for $3 million, according to bizbuysell.com.
