A Famous Taste Of Chicago Is Making Its Way To St. Petersburg with Portillo's
Famous Chicago-style hot dogs, beef sandwiches, desserts and more from Portillo's will get to be enjoyed by St. Pete residents.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Portillo's is bringing its Chicago-style hot dogs and beef and sausage sandwiches to its soon-to-be St. Petersburg location, the company said.
The company said in a news release that after getting many requests from St. Pete residents to open a location here, it gave in. The restaurant will feature classic '50s-style decor on the inside and a season outdoor patio. The menu also features its world-famous chocolate cake, fries and shakes.
It is expected to open near Tyrone Square Mall in spring 2022. This will be Tampa Bay's third location. The other two locations are in Tampa and Brandon.

Portillo's began in 1963 with a $1,000 investment into a small trailer by a man named Dick Portillo, according to its website. Portillo turned that trailer into a hot dog stand in Villa Park, Illinois, which he initially called, "The Dog House." Years later, Portillo's became a brand synonymous with Chicago.
