Novelty Grenade Caused St. Pete Scare, Police Say
The Tampa Bomb Squad was called out to the scene.

The discovery of a possible grenade in St. Petersburg yard Tuesday morning has turned out to be no cause for alarm.
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, the Tampa Bomb Squad came out and inspected the device found by a passerby in a yard at 670 29th Ave. S.
The device, as it turns out, was a “non-explosive novelty item designed to look like a hand grenade,” St. Pete police wrote in an email to media. The item will be disposed of, police noted.
