Sandbags Made Available for St. Pete Residents

Residents can start picking them up on Sunday.

St. Petersburg residents who want to batten down the hatches in case Tropical Storm Erika makes her way to the Bay area can pick up sandbags starting Sunday morning.

The city announced that it will make materials for up to 10 bags per vehicle available starting at 7 a.m. Sunday. Materials can be picked up through 7 p.m. or until supplies are exhausted at these three locations:

  • Northeast Park, 875 62nd Ave. N.E.
  • Bartlett Park, 22nd Ave. S., between 6th and 7th Streets
  • Northwest Pool Parking Lot, 2331 60th Street N.

Residents must show proof of city residency to obtain bags. A Florida driver’s license is preferred. The city asks that residents who need to refill bags issued during previous storms bring those bags with them.
