Sea Critters Café Tees Off to Support Veterans
Sea Critters Café participates in D.U.S.T.O.F.F. Charity Golf Scramble to benefit veterans.

Byron Bates, owner of Sea Critters Café, recently announced the island-style restaurant will be participating in the D.U.S.T.O.F.F. Charity Golf Scramble on Monday, October 17, at Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club. Proceeds from the event will benefit local veteran charities Support the Troops, the Claybaker D.U.S.T.O.F.F. Foundation and the Brittany Gordon Veterans Memorial, which is currently under development.
“The purpose of the golf tournament is to raise awareness of disabled combat veterans and the sacrifices they have made for our country,” said Bates. “We have sponsored sixteen combat veterans to play as our guests.”
The Claybaker D.U.S.T.O.F.F. Foundation is an organization dedicated to providing combat veterans assistance during times of transition and hardship. Support the Troops sends out about 250 69-pound boxes each week to U.S. military units in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Qatar and Kyrgyzstan.
In addition to the tournament, the D.U.S.T.O.F.F. Charity Golf Scramble will include a parachute team, military vehicles, weapon displays, raffle prizes and a silent auction. “This will be a great day of fun and golf with true American heroes, including combat veterans, retired service members and active duty military personnel,” said Ian O’Connell, who is not only the bartender at Sea Critters Café but the VP of the Board of the Claybaker D.U.S.T.O.F.F. Foundation.
