Senior Softball Tryouts at North Shore Park

The Historic and Renowned “Kids and Kubs” Senior Softball Club will hold tryouts for the upcoming season, which will begin in November. Kids and Kubs (aka Three Quarter Century Softball Club) Slow Pitch Softball is an age-appropriate healthy activity for seniors, both men and women, 74 years of age and over.

A priority is player safety. Pitcher screens are required, and face masks are optional. Stealing bases and sliding are not permitted. Accommodations are made for physically challenged players, including a “short base” for players with mobility issues.

Current CDC protocols regarding COVID19 temperature and social distancing are required in dugouts to protect volunteers and Club members who enter the field of play.

The Three Quarter Century Softball Club was founded in 1930 and is the oldest continuously operating senior softball league in the United States.

You do not have to be a former superstar Minor League baseball player to join Kids & Kubs. While we do have experienced players, we also have players who are relatively new to the game. Teams (Kids, Kubs, Kats, and Kits) play on a rotating basis—player skills are considered in team selection to balance competition during Club championship play.

The tryout sessions will allow interested persons to revisit their experience as recreational players and develop and test skills, including hitting drills, pitching, and catching. Tryouts occur at North Shore Park Field, 901 North Shore Blvd., next to the St. Petersburg Aquatic Center.

Weather permitting, pick-up games are now being held at Northshore Field every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 AM. These are open to the public, and there is no age restriction. However, only persons above the age of 74 are eligible for Club membership.
