Shine Mural Fest, Taste Of Latino, Nature Expo: FL Weekend Events

TAMPA BAY, FL — Looking for something fun to do this weekend in the Tampa Bay area? There’s something for every interest – Shine Mural Festival, Taste of Latino Festival, Tampa Bay Nature Expo, and the return of the Polk State FallFest and Car Show,

Shine Mural Festival

Returning for its ninth year, the SHINE St. Petersburg Mural Festival once again ignites the city with a diverse collection of public art from renowned local, national and international mural artists. The outdoor art exhibition starts Friday and runs through Oct. 22. During this time, 14 new murals plus a series of Bright Spot community mural projects will be added to neighborhoods in and around downtown St. Pete. The kickoff party takes place Friday and Saturday.

Dining in the Dark

Lighthouse’s eighth annual Dining in the Dark is an interactive reception Friday, 6 p.m., at the Heritage Pines Country Club in Hudson, where guests will visit hands-on stations and step into the shoes of a Lighthouse client. At each station, guests are blindfolded and taught basic independence skills, including how to use a white cane and how to eat while wearing a blindfold. There will also be a delicious dinner, silent auction and chance raffle. All proceeds from Dining in the Dark benefit Lighthouse programs for people who are visually impaired and blind.

Hoopin’ for Health

Join Lakeland Regional Health and the YMCA of West Central Florida on Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon, for Hoopin’ for Health, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament promoting fun, cardio activity and health screenings for all at the Lakeland Family YMCA.

Polk State FallFest and Car Show

For more than three and a half decades, FallFest has been a seasonal mainstay on Polk State College's Winter Haven campus. This year’s festival takes place Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. - the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 120 locals, businesses and college clubs will set up booths all throughout the campus with seasonal and innovative homemade arts, crafts and products.

Tampa Bay Nature Expo

Bird watchers and nature lovers are invited to come together for the annual Florida Birding and Nature Festival's Nature Expo on Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Suncoast Youth Conservation Center in Apollo Beach, south of the Manatee Viewing Center. More than 30 exhibitors will offer the public the opportunity to buy nature products or learn about environmental programs.

Unite for Good Bazaar

Join The Bazaar on Apricot & Lime in Sarasota on Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., for a day of inspiration, community and making a difference! This event is your chance to connect with 11 local nonprofits and learn more about the amazing work they do to create positive change in our world.

CASA Pinellas Scavenger Hunt

Join CASA for an exhilarating adventure through time Saturday starting at 11:30 a.m.! Grab your team and get ready to make a life-saving impact for domestic violence survivors in the greater St. Petersburg-area community. An afterparty takes place at Ferg’s at 3 p.m.

Walk for Whiskers

The third annual Walk for Whiskers is a charity walk and peer-to-peer fundraising event benefiting the Humane Society of Pinellas on Saturday, 2 to 6 p.m., at Pioneer Park in Dunedin. All donations will go to the care, feeding and medical costs of rescued animals.

Taste of Latino Festival

Food, art and music are on the menu for the fifth annual Ford Taste of Latino Festival and Hispanic Heritage Celebration on Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., in Centennial Park in Ybor City.

Mothers Helping Mothers Kids Rock Concert

This fundraiser for Mothers Helping Mothers takes place Sunday, noon to 3 p.m., at Stottlemyer’s Steakhouse in the Sarasota area. The family-friendly event features a rock concert, live and silent auctions, raffles, kids activities, and more.

Dunedin Concert Band

The Dunedin Concert Band will perform Julie Giroux's Symphony No.3 "A Symphony of Fables” Sunday, 4 p.m., at the Dunedin Community Center.
