Shooting Outside Hiro's Tokyo Steakhouse

A 28-year-old man walked into the 4th Street restaurant before closing saying he had been shot.

A 28-year-old man is expected to survive an accidental shooting outside Hiro's Tokyo Steakhouse and Sushi Bar late Thursday night, according to St. Petersburg Police.

Charles E. Pitts is hospitalized at Bayfront Medical Center with a single gunshot wound to his upper body, said police in a wrriten statement released at 2:30 a.m. Friday.

Investigators are disclosing little about the incident. Pitts apparently walked into the restaurant, at 5450 4th St. North, after 10 p.m. Thursday, saying he had been shot and asking for help.

Restaurant wokers contacted police, who viewed surveillance videotape and questioned the victim. They determined the shooting was accidental.
