‘Significant Fire’ At CubeSmart Investigated: St. Pete Fire Rescue

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A “significant fire” that broke out Wednesday afternoon at a storage facility is under investigation, St. Pete Fire Rescue wrote in a Facebook post.

Firefighters who responded to the CubeSmart on 22nd Avenue North just before 4 p.m. were met with heavy smoke and flames affecting multiple storage units and the facility’s roof. Other local fire districts also responded to the two-alarm fire.

“Despite the challenging conditions posed by the intensity of the fire and the vast amount of combustible material within the storage units,” the blaze was under control within minutes, the agency said.

There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is being investigated by SPFR fire investigators.
