St. Pete Man Fatally Shot Brother-In-Law Then Himself: Officers

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office says brothers-in-law who were roommates died in an apparent murder-suicide.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Brothers-in-law who were roommates died in an apparent murder-suicide, authorities said. Officers discovered two bodies inside a St. Petersburg apartment on Wednesday after they went to conduct a wellness check on one of the men.

The pair were roommates at 4052 46th Avenue North, St. Petersburg, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.

Authorities went to the apartment to check on 61-year-old Keith Harvey at 11:16 a.m., on Monday, after his family members had not heard from him in several days, officials said.

Detectives say after they forced entry into the home because of suspicious circumstances. Inside officials found Harvey's brother-in-law, 56-year-old Stephen McCrave, dead from a gunshot wound.

Harvey's body was found in another room from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, investigators said.

Deputies said they believe Harvey shot McCrave, and then took his own life.

Several suicide notes were found inside the home, police said.
