St. Pete Barbershop Offers Rays-Themed Cuts During 'Back in the Burg' Initiative
Fans heading to Tropicana Field can book Rays-themed cuts and get temporary blue hair coloring at a barbershop in St. Pete's Edge District.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL β An Edge District barbershop near Tropicana Field is joining the Tampa Bay Rays' βBack in the Burgβ promotion with baseball-themed cuts and styling specials.
Floydβs 99 Barbershop, part of the Moxy Hotel, at 1200 Central Ave., is offering several Rays-inspired options for fans heading to home games.
The promotion includes the Ray-Hawk, which features shaved sides finished with gel, and the Ray-Zor, an elevated cut with a full styling experience, the shop said.

βMy dad always wanted a son and didnβt get one,β she told Patch. βSo, we all grew up watching sports.β
Specifically, New England teams, Noyes added.
The familyβs love for teams from the Northeast stayed strong even after they moved to St. Petersburg when she was 4-year-old. But they also adopted their new hometown teams, as well.
βWe became Bucs fans and when the Rays started, big Rays fans,β Noyes said. βAnd my husbandβs family has had season tickets since day one with the Rays, since they were the Devil Rays.β
They were excited to open Floydβs just around the block from the stadium.
βTo us, it was perfect, especially getting into the Moxy Hotel. It all fits our vibe. Weβre also very music-centered,β she said.
Like many, Noyes was saddened by the Rays' temporary move to George Steinbrenner Field in Tampa last season after Hurricane Milton tore the roof of Tropicana Field.
Now, with the roof rebuilt and the team's return to St. Petersburg this season, sheβs excited to welcome them back.
βWith what happened with the Rays, when they lost the stadium, we definitely missed having it around,β Noyes said. βAnd obviously, thereβs a lot of buzz going around. Now that theyβre back in the βBurgβ, we definitely wanted to get involved.β
The Rays-inspired styles fit well with Floydβs, which already regularly offers mohawks to its clients.
βWe thought it would be a lot of fun and then we decided to throw in the spray color in blue on home-game weekends,β she said. βWe wanted to have fun with it and show the Rays our support. Weβre big in the community and love to support the community any way we can.β
