St. Pete Child Injured In Crash Stole Relative's Car: Report

The child drove the family member's car on a Florida interstate and caused a crash with a pickup truck, a media report says.

ST. PETERSBURG — A 10-year-old child was injured in an interstate crash after being accused of stealing a relative's car and driving it Thursday, the Miami Herald reported Friday.

The rush-hour crash happened around 6 p.m. near the Interstate 275 and Interstate 375 intersection, the outlet reported, citing the Florida Highway Patrol.

The St. Petersburg child reportedly tried to overtake a Ford F250 truck and sideswiped it, causing the crash and leading to the child's minor injuries, the outlet reported. The child was not permitted to use the family member's car, the Miami Herald reported.
