St. Pete Fans Crowd Crowley's for World Cup Soccer

The players, a mix of young and veterans, hungered for a win. Fans were with them in spirit.

ST. PETERSBURG – Crowley's Downtown Bar and Grill has been a popular spot for watch parties, and Sunday was no different. A mass of red, white and blue sporting fans packed the pub to witness what they hoped to be history.

The U.S. Women's National Soccer Team had everything to prove in the World Cup tournament Sunday. After a heartfelt finish against Brazil in the quarter-final game, the U.S. advanced after overtime and penalty kicks to face France in the semis.

A 3-1 victory put the team right where they strived to be: in the World Cup final against Japan. After an unexpected tie ending, the game moved to overtime and then penalty kicks, once again. Japan kept their composure strong, while the U.S. faltered. Japan took the cup with a 3-1 standing in penalty kicks.
