St. Pete Man Accused Of Attacking Two Women With Butter Knife

The 18-year-old was charged with attempted murder following the attack, police said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A St. Petersburg man is facing charges after police said he attacked two women with a butter knife outside a local post office.

Rodrigo Romero, 18, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault following the incident at 76 4th St. N. in St. Pete.

According to police, two women were walking in the downtown area in front of an open-air post office when Romero attacked them.

One victim suffered minor injuries to her head as a result of the attack. The second victim was not injured, police said.

Bystanders in the area assisted by calling police and detaining Romero until officers arrived.

According to police, Romero and the victims did not know each other. It's unclear why he attacked the women.

Romero was taken to Bayfront Health for evaluation. After being treated and released, he was transported to the Pinellas County Jail.
