St. Pete Man Arrested After Niece, 12, Gave Birth To His Child: Reports

PINELLAS PARK, FL — A St. Petersburg man was arrested by Pinellas Park police after his 12-year-old niece gave birth to his child, according to multiple reports.

Delfin Back, 61, faces two charges of sexual battery of a child under the age of 12, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

The girl unexpectedly gave birth at Helen Howarth Park in Pinellas Park the night of July 16, Fox 13 reported. Officers responded to the park around 10:30 p.m., after learning she had given birth.

Back was arrested the next day, reports said.

The girl told investigators that she was unaware that she was pregnant, according to WTSP.

She also reportedly told detectives that she was “the victim of multiple sexual battery and molestation incidents” involving her uncle over the last year.

Both the girl and infant are healthy and being treated at an area hospital.
