St. Pete Man Arrested, Charged In July Parking Lot Shooting: Cops
Michael Anthony Peak, Jr., has been charged with second-degree murder of Eric Thornhill Chavis, 27, while 100 to 150 people were gathered.

ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. – A 32-year-old St. Petersburg man has been arrested in a July fatal shooting that left another man dead at a crowded gathering outside of a St. Petersburg rental hall, police announced Saturday.
Michael Anthony Peak, Jr., was charged with second-degree murder after police took him into custody on Saturday in connection with the shooting death of Eric Thornhill Chavis on July 5, St. Petersburg Police said over the weekend.
The shooting took place just after 3:30 a.m. in July when police were called to the parking lot of Leanne’s Rental Hall in the 1500 block of 16th Street South, police said. At the time, there was a large crowd of between 100 and 150 people and police arrived to find that Thornhill Chavis, 27, had been shot.

First responders provided medical care to Thornhill Chavis until an ambulance arrived, but he later died at a local hospital.
