St. Pete Man With Body In Car Leads KY Police On Car Chase: Report

A Kentucky police chase through multiple counties led to the arrest of a St. Pete man, who had a woman's body in his car, reports said.

KENTUCKY — A St. Petersburg man was arrested Wednesday in Kentucky after leading state troopers on a multi-county chase while driving with a woman’s body in his car, according to media reports.

David Maurice Reed, 54, faces multiple charges, including murder-domestic violence, tampering with physical evidence, abuse of corpse, first-degree fleeing or evading police, second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, careless driving, resisting arrest, and no operator’s license, according to Fox 56.

A trooper saw Reed driving carelessly on I-75 in Madison County and pulled him over. Though he initially stopped, he drove off when troopers approached his car, WPSD reported.

Reed then led officers on a three-county car chase through Madison, Rockcastle and Laurel counties. He hit multiple law enforcement cruisers along the way, ultimately crashing on I-75 just north of London, Kentucky, WKYT said.

Troopers found the body of the woman, who hasn’t been identified, in the backseat of his vehicle, according to Fox 56.

Her cause of death is unknown, although foul play is suspected, reports said.
