St. Pete Man Charged in 2nd Rape Case

The man charged in a Dec. 13 attack was already in the Pinellas County Jail on similar charges.

A St. Petersburg man already behind bars on sexual assault charges has been connected to another rape.

According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, a DNA match was made to connect Leandre Snead, 28, to a Dec. 13 attack on a 19-year-old woman.

That incident happened around 3:50 a.m. as the woman was walking home from a friend’s house. Snead, police say, approached the woman and asked to use her cellphone. He then pulled out a gun and took her to a secluded area where he sexually assaulted her, police said.

Snead, police say, left DNA evidence behind at the scene.

DNA evidence was also used to connect Snead to the Dec. 29 sexual assault and grand theft auto case that he was already jailed for when the new charges were lodged against him Wednesday.

Snead remained in the Pinellas County Jail Wednesday afternoon without bond, according to jail records.
