St. Pete Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash
The 1st Avenue North accident happened late Tuesday night.
A 28-year-old St. Petersburg man is dead following a single-vehicle crash on 1st Avenue North Tuesday night.
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, Benjamin A. Bierkortte was heading westbound around 11:30 p.m. when the crash happened. Police said he was traveling at a high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a curve in his 2004 Ford Explorer.
Bierkortte’s vehicle continued forward and struck a tree.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
