St. Pete Police Launch Operation To Reduce Fatal Accidents
A sharp increase in the number of fatal traffic accidents has prompted the St. Petersburg Police to launch a special operation.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- A sharp increase in the number of fatal traffic accidents has prompted the St. Petersburg Police to launch a special operation aimed at reducing crashes.
The operation will run from Wednesday, Dec. 12 to Friday, Dec. 14, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. It will target 34th Street from 5th Avenue South to 5th Avenue North.
Police will strictly enforce speed limits and ticket drivers for other traffic violations in an attempt to encourage drivers to slow down and pay attention.

Additionally, on Thursday the St. Pete Police DUI Unit will target impaired and distracted drivers from 7 to 10 p.m..
And police will be out in force on Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. focusing on vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian violations.

Speed awareness monitors with be set up as well alerting drivers of how fast they are going and digital signs will warn drivers to slow down.
