St. Pete Standoff Ends Peacefully

An armed woman had barricaded herself in her Quincy Street home.

An armed standoff that began Sunday night has ended peacefully in St. Petersburg.

According to the police department, the agency was called out to a home in the 1800 block of Quincy Street around 8 p.m. Relatives of the woman inside called police after the woman made suicidal statements. When a family friend went by to check on the 59-year-old, the woman inside was armed with a gun and asked the friend to leave, an email from the agency to media stated.

When two shots were fired inside the home, SWAT was called in, the email stated.

After four hours, a negotiator was able to get the women to come out of the home.

The woman was taken into custody under the Baker Act around 12:15 a.m. Monday and transported for psychological evaluation. Patch is not releasing the woman’s identity.
