St. Pete Today: Baywalk + Buckethead
Baywalk has a new owner. A former Guns 'n Roses member solos as Buckethead.
1.) New Owner for Baywalk: The struggling Baywalk complex has a new owner: Treasure Island developer Bill Edwards. According to Tampabay.com, the sale went through this week. Edwards had made no secret that he wanted to purchase the outdoor mall in downtown St. Pete, saying he has the skills to reinvigorate it.
2.) Buckethead at the State: Buckethead is a rock guitarist known for wearing a Kentucky Fried Chicken bucket on his head. Less known is that Buckethead actually is a good a player and previously was Slash's replacement in Guns N Roses. Buckethead plays jazz, funk, blues, bluegrass, you name it. He plays the State Theatre tonight at 8. Leave the fried chicken at home.
3.) Rwanda Discussion: The Florida Holocaust Museum hosts a discussion about atrocities in Rwanda. Guest speakers are the founder of, and two students at, the Akilah Institute for Women. The Akilah Institute offers college level degrees in Hospitality Management for young women who are impoverished or disadvantaged in Rwanda. The talk starts at 7 p.m. at the downtown museum.

4.) Jazz at the Palladium: The Nate Najar Trio will play jazz tonight at 7:30 at the Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door.
5.) Rays Holding On: Having lost the first of two games Wendesday to the Yankees, the Rays stayed two games out of the final playoff spot. After tonight, the team finishes up at Yankee Stadium with a 7 p.m. game, followwed by a six-game final homestand. So there's plenty of time still to catch pennant fever!
