St. Pete Woman Dies in Fatal Scooter Crash
The accident happened Wednesday evening along 62nd Avenue North.

A 49-year-old St. Petersburg woman is dead following an accident on 62nd Avenue North Wednesday night.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 1992 Buick LeSabre driven by Frederick Stevens, 73, of Pinellas Park was heading west on 62nd Avenue North, just east of 39th Street North, around 8:40 p.m. when the crash happened. A scooter driven by Tracie Ann York was heading east on 62nd Avenue North at the time.

Stevens, troopers say, attempted to turn left into Crystal Lakes Manor and drove into the path of York’s scooter.
The front of Stevens’ Buick struck the left side of the scooter, ejecting York.

York was taken to Bayfront Medical Center where she later died from her injuries.
Stevens was not injured.
Charges are pending in the accident.
