St. Petersburg Ranked Best City In Florida For Bicyclists

As a part of the PlacesForBikes new city ratings effort, the City of St. Petersburg was recognized as the highest-rated city for bicyclists.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – If you’re considering taking up bicycling for exercise and fun, you’re in luck. You live in the best place in Florida for bicyclists, according to the national foundation for bicycling, PeopleForBikes.

As a part of the PlacesForBikes new city ratings effort, the City of St. Petersburg was recognized as the highest-rated city for bicyclists in the state of Florida.

Of the 485 cities evaluated, St. Petersburg was rated 22nd in the nation overall and 11th in the United States for the pace at which conditions are improving for bicyclists.

"As we have been focused on making the City of St. Petersburg a friendlier place for cyclists and pedestrians, this is great news,” said St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman. “I want to thank PeopleForBikes, and most important of all, everyone in the Sunshine City who rides a bike or helps to make life easier for those on a bike."

PlacesForBikes is a PeopleForBikes program to develop, connect and celebrate great places to ride. It offers a data-driven approach to identifying the best U.S. towns for bicycling.
