Storm Chances High Throughout the Week
Forecasters say thunderstorms are likely most days.

Tampa Bay area residents might want to batten down the hatches.
The National Weather Service says strong storms are moving in off the Gulf of Mexico and are bringing rain and lightning to communities throughout the region.
A “stalled out frontal boundary over the top of us” is to blame for Monday’s heavy weather, said meteorologist Rodney Wynn. The storms were located in the Bay’s coastal communities late Monday morning and are expected to make their way inland as the afternoon progresses, he added.

When Monday’s thunderstorms clear out, Wynn said Tampa Bay area residents shouldn’t expect that to signal an end to wet weather.
“(There’s) another cold front over Georgia that’s going to dip down and give us some pretty unstable weather throughout most of the week,” Wynn said.

Right now rain chances are set around 60 percent through the week with thunderstorms possible most days.
The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook report for the Bay area this week that warns of thunderstorms that are capable of producing strong, gusty winds. It is warning residents to watch out for locally heavy rains and the possibility of “frequent deadly lightning strikes.”
