Student Brought Gun To Gibbs High School: St. Pete Police
A social media post by a 15-year-old boy showed him holding a gun in a bathroom at Gibbs High School on Thursday, St. Pete police said.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A student was arrested for bringing a gun to Gibbs High School Thursday and charged with possession of a weapon on school property, a felony, according to a St. Petersburg Police Department news release.
A teacher notified the school resource officer about a social media post from the ninth grader, which showed him holding a gun in a school bathroom, police said.
After an immediate investigation, the 15-year-old boy was arrested, SPPD said.

“The St. Petersburg Police (Department) makes the safety of students a top priority and any weapon on campus, or other threat to school safety, will be thoroughly investigated,” the agency said. “This serves as a reminder to students that social media posts are taken very seriously, and the consequences could be severe.”
