Student Charged With Arson After Setting Fire In Bathroom

A 13-year-old John Hopkins Middle School student has been charged with arson after being accused of setting a backpack on fire.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A 13-year-old John Hopkins Middle School student has been charged with arson after being accused of setting a backpack on fire in a bathroom stall at the school.

The incident occurred at 12:26 p.m. Friday. St. Pete Fire Rescue responded to put the fire out. While the fire caused minimal damage, there was a great deal of smoke and the school was evacuated.

No one was injured.
