St. Pete Man Threatened Supervisor Of Elections Office: Largo Police
A St. Pete man angry about issues with his voter ID card threatened to bring a grenade to the supervisor of elections office, police said.
LARGO, FL — A St. Petersburg man angry about his voter ID card faces charges after threatening to bring a grenade to the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections office at 13001 Starkey Road in Largo.
Charles Henry Westgate, 68, was charged with making a false report of a bomb, explosive or weapon of mass destruction against a state-owned property, according to the arrest affidavit from the Largo Police Department.
Westgate, who was arrested Saturday, called the supervisor of elections office on Aug. 8 about issues involving his voter ID card, according to his arrest report. He threatened to bring a grenade to the office if his issues weren’t resolved.

When his call was transferred to two supervisors at the office, he repeated the threat and, according to the affidavit, asked them “if that frightened them.”
“What? Are you scared? Are you going to hide under your desks?” Westgate asked them.

When arrested, he denied the allegations and refused to answer questions, police said.
