Suspect In Fatal Shooting Of 86-Year-Old Man, Dog In Custody: St. Pete Police
The suspect in the fatal shooting of an 86-year-old man and his family dog at a St. Pete home was arrested in Tampa on an unrelated charge.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The suspect in Tuesday’s fatal shooting of an 86-year-old man and the family dog at a St. Petersburg home is in custody, authorities said.
Jason Blythe, 43, was arrested Wednesday in Tampa on unrelated charges, St. Petersburg police said in a news release.
He’s accused of shooting the man and the dog to death at the home in the 5800 block of 11th Street South.

The motive is still unclear, but the victim and the suspect knew each other, police said.
Once detectives and the State Attorney's Office complete filing the arrest warrant, Blythe will be transported to the Pinellas County Jail to face charges of first-degree homicide, animal cruelty and felon in possession of a firearm, the agency said.

Blythe is being held without bond in Hillsborough County for a warrant out of Tifton County, Georgia, for violation of parole - aggravated assault on a peace office and fleeing and eluding.
