Suspect In Oct. 9 Fatal Shooting Arrested: St. Pete Police
A man fired shots at a St. Pete home, hitting, killing a man inside who was shielding his grandchild from bullets, police said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Officers have made an arrest in the Oct. 9 fatal shooting of 51-year-old Antwahnn Evans at his St. Petersburg home.
James Bingham, 22, was charged with first-degree murder, according to a St. Petersburg Police Department news release.
Bingham went to Evans’ home on James Avenue South around 5:30 a.m. Several members of Evans’ family were inside the home at the time.

When they didn’t open the door, Bingham fired shots at the house with a rifle, police said.
Evans, trying to shield his grandchild from the bullets, was shot multiple times. He later died from his injuries on Oct. 18.
Police didn’t share the relationship between Bingham and Evans and a possible motive for the shooting.
