Teen Charged In Lakewood High Student's Death
An 18-year-old Lakewood High School student died following a Wednesday night shooting in front of his home.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — An 18-year-old is dead and a 17-year-old faces first-degree murder charges following a Wednesday evening shooting in St. Petersburg.
According to St. Petersburg Police, Maxwell Curtis Muennich, 18, was shot around 5:30 p.m. during an altercation outside his 2121 1st St. S. home. While initial reports indicated Muennich was the victim of a drive-by shooting, further investigation revealed that was not the case, police wrote in an email to media.
Muennich was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg following the shooting. He died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday from his injuries, police wrote. Police said on Wednesday that Muennich was a student at Lakewood High School.

Christopher Scott, 17, was identified by detectives as the suspect in the case, the email said. Scott was picked up at his 3045 12st Ave. S. home around 3:17 a.m. Thursday, police said. He was charged with first-degree murder and booked into the Pinellas County Juvenile Assessment Center.
