5 Things to do in St. Pete This Weekend

1. Under Armour All-Star Football Game

Some of the nation's top high school senior football players will be at Tropicana Field Friday night for the 2013 Under Armour All-America game. The game will be televised live on ESPN at 5 p.m. The roster features 90 of the nation’s premier high school football players who will be coached by former NFL head coaches Herm Edwards and Steve Mariucci. Tickets are $18 and can be purchased online. 

2. Free Museum Weekend

Are you a Bank of America or Merrill Lynch cardholder? If so, you can get free access Jan. 5 and 6 to the Florida Holocaust Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Tampa Museum of Art. Bring your Bank of America or Merrill Lynch credit or debit card along with a photo ID to gain free general admission. Your guests, however, are not free. The free museum weekend is held the first weekend of every month. 

3. Chief Keef at State Theatre

Up and coming teenage rapper, and alleged troublemaker, Chief Keef will bring his stylish word-playing talents to State Theatre Saturday night. The show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Other performers include, Mira, Lions After Dark, WD-HAN, The Best Day Ever, MBL Trio, Kheiron and Eyes Tell Lies.

4. First Friday

Between 2nd and 3rd Street on Central Avenue, First Friday will rock downtown St. Pete. The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. and last until 10 p.m. Music for the night will be The Tempests. Later, atJannus Live, there is a No Cover First Friday with Chris Mccarty. Doors open at 8 p.m. 

5. Titanic at the Mahaffey

This weekend, you can see the treasures recovered at the Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition. The exhibit runs through March 3, 2013, at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg. Inside the exhibit you'll see artifacts that have not been displayed previously in Tampa Bay, including plates, coal, clothing and much more. According to the Mahaffey, the galleries focus on the legendary Titanic's compelling human stories as best told through authentic artifacts recovered from the ocean floor. There also are extensive room re-creations. Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition is open Monday - Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets for the exhibition are on sale now for $19.12 to commemorate the year of the Titanic's unsuccessful voyage.
