Tim Burton May Film in Pinellas, Hillsborough
Production on the new movie project won't begin until sometime next year.

The Tampa Bay area may soon find itself in the Hollywood spotlight once more courtesy of Tim Burton.
The whimsical director of “Edward Scissorhands” has been talking to the both the St. Petersburg-Clearwater Film Commission and the Tampa Hillsborough Film and Digital Media group about shooting in the Bay sometime next year, The Tampa Tribune reported.
Burton’s production of “Edward Scissorhands” created quite a stir in the Bay area 25 years ago. During his stay, he transformed a Carpenters Run neighborhood in Pasco County’s Lutz to serve as a set while dog groomers throughout the region plied their craft to create unusual looks for the pooches in the film, which starred Johnny Depp.

This time, Burton has intentions to film scenes for “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” on location in both Pinellas and Hillsborough counties. The details on shooting aren’t firmed up yet, but if he chooses the Bay, production on the movie is set to begin in February or March, the Tribune reported.
“They are not 100 percent confirmed but really close,” Tony Armer, St. Petersburg-Clearwater film commissioner, was quoted by the Tribune as saying.
