Town Hall Hosts Discussion About Upgraded St. Pete Water Facility

Topics for the telephone town hall discussion include the water facility's upgrades and construction schedules, said a news release.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A telephone town hall meeting that involves discussions about the Pinellas County South Cross Bayou Advanced Water Reclamation Facility —New Headworks and Grit Removal Facility Design-Build Project is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20. Residents, property and business owners are encouraged to join the phone call because they will talk in detail about the upgrade project to the South Cross Bayou Advanced Water Reclamation Facility.

The upgrade includes the replacement of two expired structures with one combined structure including updated equipment, a news release stated. Another topic for discussion includes the construction schedule, and the project team will be available to answer any questions.

The phone call serves to take the place of the in-person meeting due to coronavirus concerns. Those who want to attend the meeting can register at www.scbwaterproject.com. Residents who live within the vicinity of the South Cross Bayou Advanced Water Reclamation Facility, located at 7401 54th Avenue North, will receive a phone call around 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening and have the option to opt-in to the phone call.

Engineering services for this project cost about $1.1 million and the total construction cost is about $23.9 million. The project is being paid for through Pinellas County’s Capital Improvements Program.
