Troopers Investigate Fatal Crash Involving School Bus, Motorcycle

No injuries have been reported to any children aboard the bus.

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL -- A 21-year-old St. Petersburg motorcylist was killed Tuesday, Sept. 11, when his motorcycle collided with a Pinellas County school bus.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the accident occurred at 4:51 p.m. at the intersection of 62nd Avenue North and 28th Street North.

A Pinellas County school bus drive by Hector Ramon Paz, 60, of Largo was transporting students from Nina Harris Exceptional Student Education Center west on 62nd Avenue North. At the same time, a motorcycle driven by Wanderley Rosales Echemen, 21, of St. Petersburg was heading east on 62nd. As both vehicles approached the intersection of 28th Street North, Paz turned south onto 28th Street into the path of Echemen's motorcycle. The front end of the motorcycle collided with the right side of the bus.

Echemen died at the scene. None of the passengers on the bus were injured.
