Two Facing Charges Following Murder Investigation in St. Pete

Police say the body of a man who was murdered sometime within the last two weeks had been concealed inside the home.

Two people are facing first-degree murder charges after police say a 54-year-old man was murdered in a St. Pete home.

Detectives are currently on scene of a homicide in the 700 block of 87th Avenue North. According to police, the investigation began around 1 a.m. when police received information that a murder had taken place inside the home.

Upon further investigation, police say two suspects who resided at the residence murdered the 54-year-old man inside the home sometime within the last week or two. Police said the body was concealed on the property but has now been recovered.

According to police, the motive behind the murder was drug related.

The two suspects, Jennifer A. Schlag, 45 and Derrick McMillin, 40 will be charged with first-degree murder, police said.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Forensics Unit is processing the crime scene.

The victim’s name has not been released.
