Video of Suspect in Clerk Shooting Released

The St. Petersburg Police Department is looking for help identifying the man involved in a Saturday night armed robbery.

When a masked man walked into the Easy Stop 2 in St. Petersburg armed with a gun Saturday night, the clerk behind the counter met his demands for cash.

The clerk’s willingness to comply with the robber’s requests, however, didn’t stop the masked man from firing his gun anyway. In fact, St. Petersburg Police say the man responsible for the robbery at the 5315 16th St. N. store got money from the register and still decided to shoot the clerk in the arm.

After firing the bullet, the suspect fled the store, the agency wrote in an email to media.

While the clerk recovers from what have been described as non-life-threatening injuries, police are trying to catch the man responsible. To that end, they released store surveillance footage from the night of the attack.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the police department at 727-893-7780 or text SPPD plus the tip to TIP411.
