The Tampa Bay Rays played an afternoon game Wednesday at Al Lang Field against the Netherlands. Seeing the Rays play in this historic ball park gave visitors plenty of reasons to be glad they were in St. Pete.
With only a pair of games to go in St. Petersburg's International Baseball season, here's a look back at Wednesday's match between the Rays and the Netherlands. The Tampa Bay Rays played their roster hopefuls, rookies and invitees against the Netherlands Wedenesday afternoon at Al Lang Stadium. But it felt like a homecoming, with the Rays playing at the historic field. More than 3,000 fans played hookie for the day, including Florida's ex-Gov. Charlie Crist, who sat right behind Home Plate. The Rays won 4-3. Tonight, the Netherlands play St. Pete College at 7 p.m. For the final game Sunday, the Netherlands play the Phillies at 1 p.m.
