Weekend Events: A Colossal Slide, Craft Beer and Indie Artists

Check Out the Colossal Curl

Tampa’s Adventure Island debuts its tallest slide ever, the Colossal Curl, on Saturday. Standing 70 feet high and running 560 feet in length, the new slide is anticipated to make a big splash. This is the park’s first new attraction since 2006. The park also opens its doors to the public for the first time this season on Saturday. To find out more, visit it online.

Go Indie

The St. Pete Indie Market, featuring shopping, cocktails and local artists, takes place at The Bends, 919 1st Ave. N., on Saturday from noon until 6 p.m. Find out more about this event that promotes local arts and culture by visiting its website.

Knock Back a Brew

The 5th annual Dunedin Craft Beer Fest takes place Saturday from noon until 10 p.m. at Edgewater Park. Presented by the Dunedin House of Beer, the event features more than 50 local beers from 36 different Florida breweries. For more information, visit the event’s website.

Wine and Dine at Busch Gardens

Dance With Dirt

Pasco County’s Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve is the location for a big outdoor trail run on Saturday. The DWD (Dances With Dirt) Green Swamp event includes a 50M event, a marathon, extreme relay and more. For more details on the event, check it out online.

Dive into Some Chocolate

United Cerebral Palsy’s Chocolate Sundae and Food Festival takes place Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Michael’s on East at 1212 E. Ave. in Sarasota. The cost is $10 for kids and $25 for adults, according to the Manatee Chamber of Commerce website.

Get Into Some Jazz

Music lovers will find the 35th annual Sarasota Jazz Festival continues through Saturday, March 7. Sponsored by the Jazz Club of Sarasota, most of the concerts are being staged at the Riverview High School Performing Arts Center, 1 Ram Way. Up this weekend is a Tribute to Brubeck on Friday and Dick Hyman & Ken Peplowski on Saturday with vocalist Kitt Moran. Tickets start at $35 for members and are $45 for non-members.
