Woman Armed With Knife Shot By Deputy: St. Pete Police

The woman stabbed a 70-year-old man in Seminole multiple times before being shot by a Pinellas County deputy, police said.

SEMINOLE, FL — A deputy shot a woman armed with a knife Monday night in Seminole, according to a St. Petersburg Police Department news release.

Amy Jaeger, 44, is hospitalized in critical condition following the deputy-involved shooting, which is being investigated by the Pinellas County Use of Deadly Force Investigative Task Force, police said.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about an armed person at a home on 95th Avenue N. just after 6 p.m.

Jaeger, who lived there with the victim, a 70-year-old man, got into an argument with him that turned violent. The two were living together in “a domestic relationship,” police said.

She stabbed the man multiple times. When he was able to escape and run to a neighbor’s home for help, she chased after him and used a second knife to pry the neighbor’s front door open.

Deputy Christopher Ryan arrived at the home at this point and ordered Jaeger to drop her knife several times, police said. As she continued to advance, he fired several shots at her.

Her victim is hospitalized in stable condition.

Ryan, who has worked for the sheriff’s office for three years, was uninjured in the incident. He is on paid administrative assignment pending the outcome of the investigation, police said.
